A Second Look: Florida Panthers vs. Edmonton Oilers

It’s pretty nice to win three in a row, in Canada, isn’t it, eh? Should give all of those crying for relocation a chance to rethink their stance, or at least just quiet down for a little bit.

Corsi Timeline

Flavsedm.0.png Overall, the Florida Panthers played a good game, and fell victim to score effects in the third. The Edmonton Oilers have just gotten some poor goaltending this year, and even though they’re a 50% Corsi team, they’re not going to win many hockey games if they keep getting save percentages around .900%.

Shot Plots

Edmonton was kept to the outside for most of their shots, while Florida had a lot of shots right down the middle of the ice. Good game for the Cats in this regard.

Player Performance

Florida

Top performers were Jonathan Huberdeau and Brian Campbell. Thanks to the score effects, most of the team did well, though the line of Tomas Fleischmann, Dave Bolland and Sean Bergenheim got caved in, as did the Dmitry KulikovWillie Mitchell pairing.

Edmonton

Edmonton’s first line of Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall was dominant, and the Justin SchultzOscar Klefbom pairing had a good showing. Most of the team was below positive, but the line of Boyd Gordon, Matt Hendricks and Rob Klinkhammer had an atrocious game.
