Friday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers open development camp today

Hockey’s back! The Florida Panthers will open development camp, which will run to September 14, today at Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs.

Florida’s 24-man roster for the development camp and prospect tournament will consist of 13 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders,

The roster (with sweater numbers) is as follows:

Forwards: Eric Alarie (91), Karch Bachman (85), Henry Bowlby (41), Grigori Denisenko (14), Logan Hutsko (89), Anton Lundell (15), Justin Nachbaur (54), Serron Noel (18), Simon Pinard (78), Cole Schwindt (79), Justin Sourdif (24), Connor Trenholm (75) and Trevor Wong (84)

Defensemen: Frédéric Brunet (47), Robert Calisti (38), Max Gildon (88), Braden Haché (6), Matt Kiersted (8), Jacob LeGuerrier (36). John Ludvig (53) and Evan Nause (12)

Goaltenders: Spencer Knight (30), Olivier Adam (60) and Tye Austin (60)

The 24 players also participate in the Prospect Showcase Tournament at Advent Health Center Ice complex in Wesley Chapel, Florida from September 18 to 21. The 4-team tournament will be hosted by the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Carolina Hurricanes and Nashville Predators will also take part.

NHL signings

The Calgary Flames signed unrestricted free agent forward Brad Richardson to a one-year contract worth $800K. Richard, 36, has played in a total of 825 NHL games. He spent last season with the Nashville Predators. Calgary also inked restricted free agent defensemen Connor Mackey to a two-year deal worth $1.825 million. The 24-year-old appeared in six games with the Flames in 2020-21 and produced his first NHL goal and two assists. (Matchsticks and Gasoline)
