Former Florida Panthers enforcer Peter Worrell has been named Hockey Director of the Florida Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs.
Worrell, 41, spent the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach with the Fayetteville Marksmen of the Southern Professional Hockey League. Over the last decade in South Florida, the native of Pierrefonds, QC, served as head coach for Florida Atlantic University and North Broward Preparatory School.
As Hockey Director, Worrell will oversee youth and adult hockey programs at the Panthers IceDen. He will be responsible for the direction, administration, management, supervision and marketing of all ice hockey programming needs of the Panthers IceDen.
Originally selected by the Cats in the seventh round (166th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Worrell played 342 regular season games for Florida, recording 42 points (16G-26A) and 1,375 PIM before moving on to the Colorado Avalanche.
Former Panthers IceDen Hockey Director Max Ortolani will serve as Elite Hockey Director for the facility. As Elite Hockey Director, Ortolani will oversee youth hockey projects, focus on the growth of youth hockey in South Florida and manage rink alliance relationships. Additionally, James Haverstrom has been named the Panthers IceDen Manager of Youth Hockey Operations.
