Florida Panthers Head To Lone Star State For Two Tilts With Dallas Stars; Rumors Of Team Sale Increase

The Florida Panthers will get an up close look at the new Dallas uniforms and be going for a third-straight preseason win as they take on the 0-0-1 Stars tonight at 8:30 ET in Big “D”. The same two teams will hook up on Friday in San Antonio with the Panthers playing hosts in the home rink of the Rampage before they head to Tampa Bay to meet the Lightning on Saturday night.

Florida is coming off a Monday double-header sweep of the Nashville Predators while the Stars were beaten 6-5 in a shootout by the St. Louis Blues on Sunday in their only action of the preseason thus far.

Goaltender Tim Thomas is not expected to play in either game in Texas or in the game against the Lightning.

Kari Lehtonen and Christopher Nilstorp are expected to share time in the Dallas cage and 2013 first-rounder Valeri Nichushkin is also expected to suit up.

In other potentially huge news, former New Jersey Nets minority owner Vincent Viola is rumored to be on the verge of purchasing the Florida Panthers. (More from SB Nation’s Matt Brigidi on the topic here)
