Florida Panthers sign UFA forward Kevin Roy to one-year contract

The Florida Panthers continued adding organizational depth by signing forward Kevin Roy to a one-year contract worth $850K at the NHL level and a $300K minor league salary.

Roy spent the last three seasons as a member of the Anaheim Ducks after the franchise drafted him 97th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft out of Northeastern University.

In his freshman season at Northeastern, Roy was named to the 2012–13 Hockey East All-Rookie Team. As sophomore he was named to the 2013–14 Hockey East Second All-Star Team, and in his junior year he was named to the 2014–15 Hockey East First All-Star Team.

The 26-year-old has appeared in a total of 28 NHL games, producing six goals and one assist, all during the 2017-18 season when he spent 25 games with the Ducks.

In 125 career AHL games, Roy has amassed 88 points on 31 goals and 57 assists, all with the San Diego Gulls. In 18 Calder Cup playoff games, he has scored four goals and four assists.

Expect Roy to add some offensive punch to the Springfield Thunderbirds this season and be high on the list for injury call-up duty with the parent Panthers.
