Kirill Kaprizov registered a goal and two assists to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 4-2 victory over the Dallas Stars in Game 5 at American Airlines Center. Kaprizov had a hand in goals by Mats Zuccarello and Matt Boldy, and found the empty net to clinch it with two minutes remaining in regulation. Jesper Wallstadt made 20 saves, and Michael McCarron had the game-winning goal for the Wild, who took a 3-2 lead in the series.
David Pastrnak scored on a partial breakway at 9:14 of overtime for the Boston Bruins, who staved off elimination with a 2-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres in Game 5 at KeyBank Center. Elias Lindholm also tallied for Boston, and Jeremy Swayman made 24 stops. Rasmus Dahlin scored the only goal for the Sabres.
Leon Draisaitl produced a brace as the Edmonton Oilers avoided elimination with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 5 at Rogers Place. Vasily Podkolzin and Zach Hyman scored in the first period, Evan Bouchard had three assists, and Connor Ingram made 29 saves in his return to the net after sitting out in Game 4. Alex Killorn was the only Duck to beat Ingram.
