LBC’s 12th Annual NHL Trade Deadline of Doom! Open Thread

After suffering another set back in Vegas on Saturday, the struggling Florida Panthers still find themselves a mere two points out of third place in the Atlantic Division with a game in hand on the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are also in a tailspin. The two teams in this turtle race are playing so poorly that the Buffalo Sabres have caught up enough to insert themselves into the postseason discussion.

Florida’s post All-Star Game swoon has left the club in strange spot, straddling the line between buyer and seller.

With little to no cap space to work with, can general manager Dale Tallon work the phones and swing a hockey trade that boosts his sagging club and helps them jump over the stalled Buds?

Or does he stand pat and risk yet another postseason miss and potentially watching pending UFAs  Mike Hoffman and Evgenii Dadonov walk out the door with little to no return this summer.

That’s a scenario that will not sit well with an increasingly frustrated fan base.
