Panthers’ Goc, Kopecky And Santorelli See European Duty On Friday

Florida Panthers forward Tomas Kopecky continued his hot play in Dukla Trencin’s 4-3 overtime victory over first place Zvolen in Friday action from Slovakia’s Extraliga. Kopecky scored in the second period to stake Dukla Trencin to a 3-2 lead that would quickly be erased. He finished the game with four shots on goal and a +1 rating. Dukla Trencin jumped out to a 2-0 lead on power play goals from Jaroslav Koma in the first period and Peter Sojčík in the second. Zvolen would retaliate with power play goals from Peter Zuzin and Tomas Skvaridlo to forge a 2-2 tie after two periods. In the third, Kopecky would put the home side ahead scoring at the 6:34 mark from Peter Sojcik and Radoslav Tybor. The lead would not last long as Kamil Brabenec lit the lamp exactly two minutes later to even the score. The game would head to overtime where Radoslav Tybor would win it, scoring his eighth of the season with only nine seconds remaining in the extra frame. Tybor finished the game with three points and now has twenty in fifteen games. Kopecky has picked up at least a point in all three games he has played for Dukla Trencin. Matej Kristin stopped 40 shots to get the win in goal for Trencin while Marek Simko took the loss for Zloven.

Marcel Goc (pictured above) set up a pair of scores, took two shots on goal and finished +2 in a key 4-1 home win over Augsburger Panther in Friday action from the D.E.L. (German Elite League). The victory gave Alder Mannheim sole possession of second place in the D.E.L. standings. After a scoreless opening period, Goc and Frank Mauer combined to set up defenseman Nikolai Goc at the 1:45 mark of the second. Mannheim extended the lead eight minutes later when Mirko Hoffman scored at even strength with assists going to Craig McDonald and Mike Glumac. In the third period, Yanick Lehoux made it 3-0 for Mannheim at 13:22 of the third period with Goc and Jaime Sifers collecting the assists. Tobias Draxinger ended Dennis Endras’ shutout bid a couple of minutes later to get Augsburger back to within two goals. Endras would close the door the rest of the way and Marcus Kink would provide the finishing touch with a late goal to delight the crowd of 9.763 fans in attendance at SAP Arena. Goc now has twelve points in ten D.E.L. games.

Mike Santorelli fired three shots on goal but failed to pick up a point in Tingsryds AIF’s 3-1 road loss to second place Borfors IK Karlskoga in Friday action from Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan. Santorelli was strong defensively, finishing the game with an even rating. Tingsryds got off to good start, taking a 1-0 lead in the first period on a David Laudius goal at the 13:55 mark. Borfors would tie the game in the second period as Kristoffer Naslund notched his fifth goal of the campaign with the teams skating at even strength. In the third period, Marcus Nilsson set up Daniel Wessner for the eventual game-winner and Fredrik Hoggren iced the game with a late goal. Joel Gistedt picked up the win between the pipes for Borfors. Tingsryds AIF remained in eleventh place in the Allsvenskan standings
