Florida Panthers Michael Frolik and Rostislav Olesz to play for Czech National Team at WC

The world has begun taking notice of NHL rookie-no-more Michael Frolik.

He’ll be participating along with fellow Panther (and 26 year contract holder) Rusty Olesz, who was hobbled most of the season by injury, in the 2009 World Championship later this week.

The national team is highlighted by the addition of current KHL’er Jaromir Jagr, and coached by former Boston Bruin Vladimir Ruzicka. Whom I hated in the early nineties. The inclusion of Frolik adds an element of intrigue to the Czech squad: what will he learn from the experience? Indeed, from Jagr? Will Olesz be inspired to step up his play, career-wise? Or at least remain healthy?

Should be a fun bunch of games.

Update: just noticed Steve Gorten’s Sun-Sentinel blog had a similar story, so here’s the link.
