With the Florida Panthers 2023 Development Camp in the books, we have firmly reached the dog days portion of the summer. There were a smattering of contracts signed this weekend. Let’s take a look…
The biggest deal of the weekend was the Tampa Bay Lightning inking restricted free agent forward Tanner Jeannot to a two-year deal worth $5.33 million. The two aides avoided a scheduled arbitration hearing. Tampa Bay acquired Jeannot in exchange for defenseman Cal Foote and a package of five draft picks, including a lottery protected 2025 first-round pick on February 26, 2023. (Raw Charge)
Restricted free agent forward Brandon Duhaime signed a one-year contract worth $1.1 million to remain with the Minnesota Wild, avoiding arbitration. Last season, Duhaime scored nine goals and added one assist in 51 games with the Wild. (Hockey Wilderness)
Alexey Toropchenko avoided arbitration with the St. Louis Blues by signing a two-year deal worth $2.5 million. The 24-year-old forward appeared in 69 games with the Blues in 2022-23, producing ten goals and 19 points.
The Blues also signed Dalibor Dvorsky to a three-year, entry-level contract on Friday. Dvorsky, a Slovakian forward who played for AIK in Sweden last season, was taken in the first round (10th overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft.
Defenseman Ty Smith re-signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Smith, who split time between Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton during the 2022-23 campaign got a new one-year contract worth $775K. (Pensburgh)
The Detroit Red Wings inked Jared McIsaac to a one-year, two-way deal worth $787.5K at the NHL level. The 23-year-old defenseman totaled 3 goals and 19 assists last season with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins. (Winging It In Motown)
Forward Eduard Sale signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Seattle Kraken. Sale was selected in the first round (20th overall) in the 2023 NHL Draft after collecting 14 points in 43 games with HC Kometa Brno of Czechia’s Extraliga. (Davy Jones’ Locker Room)
The Vegas Golden Knights inked forward David Edstrom to a three-year, entry-level contract. Edstrom was the last pick 932nd overall) in the first round of the 2023 NHL Draft. The 18-year produced 28 points in 28 games with Frolunda HC’s J20 squad. (Knights On Ice)
Felix Unger Sorum signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. Unger, a Swedish right wing, produced 46 points in 42 games with Leksands IF J20 team. (Canes Country)
Group 6 UFA forward Justin Kirkland moved from the Anaheim Ducks organization to the Arizona Coyotes, signing a one-year, two-way deal worth $775K at the NHL level. Kirkland, 26, produced 18 points in 32 games with the San Diego Gulls (AHL) and appeared in 7 games with the Ducks last season.
The Coyotes also re-signed RFA goalie Ivan Prosvetov to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775K at the NHL level. Prosvetov appeared in 35 AHL games with the Tucson Roadrunners and saw action in seven NHL games with Arizona. (Five For Howling)
Restricted free agent goaltender Lukas Dostal remained with the Anaheim Ducks, signing a two-year contract worth $1.625 million. Dostal’s new deal is two-way in the first season and one-way in the second. The 23-year-old appeared in 34 games with the AHL Gulls and 19 games with the Ducks in 2022-23.
