Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final will take place tonight in Nashville (NBC – 8 pm). The Predators got firmly back in the series with a 5-1 win on Saturday night in front of raucous Music City crowd and now trail the Pittsburgh Penguins two games to one.
Things remain relatively quiet around the Florida Panthers, who await the end of the series to wrap up their search for a new head coach. The team did ink a couple of forwards to ELCs on Friday and continues its preparations for drafts expansion and entry in June.
General manager Dale Tallon had this to say about Friday signings of prospects Henrik Haapala and Maxim Mamin:
“We are excited to sign two talented young forward prospects in Henrik and Maxim,” said Tallon. “Both players have spent the last few seasons playing in the elite leagues in their home countries and have excelled. Henrik is a dynamic playmaker who led the Finnish league in scoring and Maxim is a strong two-way presence who plays the type of physical game that can help us win games. With their talent level and experience, we’ll be giving both players a chance to compete for a roster spot with the Panthers next season.”
Tallon had this to say back in April on the club’s upcoming tenth overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft in his old stomping grounds of Chicago.
“For the past month I have been focused on traveling and scouting in preparation for the Draft,” said Panthers President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Dale Tallon. “Now that the results of the lottery are in, I know that the Florida Panthers will be selecting another highly talented, young player in the top-10 to supplement our core group for years to come.”
