Monday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers and NHL Playoffs Open Forum

Patric Hornqvist banked the puck off Pekka Rinne with 1:35 left in regulation and Carl Hagelin clinched it with an empty-netter to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-0 win over the Nashville Predators. Matt Murray made 27 saves to post his second straight shutout.

The Penguins captured the Stanley Cup for the second year in a row with the 4-2 series win. It was the fifth time that Pittsburgh has won the title in their history.

Game 6 highlights

With the Stanley Cup Playoffs finally over, we could get official announcement today that Bob Boughner is the next coach of the Florida Panthers.

If the Panthers are going to indeed ask defenseman Keith Yandle to waive his NMC for the expansion draft, they must do so by 5 p.m. today. Must sure to refer back to our critical dates article for expansion draft timeline info.

I’ll try to get a post up sometime today for both the overall winner and the the final round winner for our LBC picks contest. Stay tuned.

It should be a busy week with the both the expansion and entry draft on the horizon. If you come across any juicy information or rumors please post links to them in the comment section.
