The Vegas Golden Knights rallied from a three-goal deficit to beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas is now one win from advancing to the Stanley Cup Final for the third time in its brief franchise history. Tomas Hertl scored a sensational go-ahead goal at 8:21 of the third period, and Mark Stone, William Karlsson, Keegan Kolesar and Brett Howden also the lit the lamp for the Golden Knights, who got 32 saves from Carter Hart. Gabriel Landeskog, Nazem Kadri, and Jack Drury scored first period goals, and Scott Wedgewood made 18 saves for the Avalanche.
IIHF World Championship (Sunday)
Sandis Vilmanis had two assists in Latvia’s 6-0 rout over Great Britain in Zurich. Vilmanis logged a game-high 23:55 of ice time, finished with a plus-two rating, registered a game-high six shots on goal, and was named Latvia’s Best Player. The 22-year-old now has eight points (2G/6A) in six games played.
Aleksander Barkov set up Mikael Granlund’s game-opening power-play goal in Finland’s 5-2 win over Austria. Barkov was credited with two shots, won five of his six face-offs, and finished the game with an even rating. Florida’s captain has six assists in six games at the tournament.
Anton Lundell drew the primary assist on Jesse Puljujarvi’s goal 11:49 into the second period which put the Finns up 3-0. Lundell received 18:10 of ice time, had three shots, and won seven of his 11 draws. Lundell has produced three goals and two assists in six games.
