The Florida Panthers defeated the Canadiens, 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Aaron Ekblad (3) sealed it by jamming the puck past Carey Price with two minutes remaining in overtime, with assists from Jussi Jokinen (3) and Vincent Trocheck (4).
Alex Petrovic (1), Kyle Rau (2), and Denis Malgin (4) each lit the lamp to account for Florida’s other three markers. Michael Matheson (5), new acquisition Seth Griffith (1), and Colton Sceviour (4) each added one assist.
Roberto Luongo earned the win to go to 6-5-0 on the season, stopping 34-of-37 and outdueling the previously undefeated Price, who falls to 10-1-0 on the season. The Panthers also assisted the consensus “best goaltender in the world” in pushing his .957 save percentage to a mere .948.
Max Pacioretty (4), David Desharnais (3) and Paul Byron (6) scored for the Habs, with assists earned by Nathan Beaulieu (5), Desharnais (3), Andrei Markov (10), Chris Terry (1), Brendan Gallagher (6), and Alex Galchenyuk (12).
