Look for a bevy of Florida’s regulars to make their preseason debuts tonight. Robert Luongo is expected to get the start in goal and play at least 40 minutes. New captain Aleksander Barkov, Evgenii Dadonov, Mike Hoffman, Vincent Trocheck, Keith Yandle and Aaron Ekblad are also slated to be in the lineup.
The Panthers gave looks to a lot of prospects and bubble players in the doubleheader against Nashville, but now that the roster has been reduced by 13, we’ll see more potent preseason lineups going forward.
While the Cats were getting out-felined by the Predators on Monday, the Habs posted a 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils in its preseason opener.
Victor Mete, Charles Hudon and Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored in the third period as Montreal overcame a one-goal deficit to get the victory on home ice. Antti Niemi started and stopped 8 of 9 shots. Charlie Lindgren replaced Niemi midway through the game and turned aside all 8 shots he faced.
