Tuesday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Florida Panthers will take on the Nashville Predators in a split-squad doubleheader at Bridgestone Arena. The first game of the set is scheduled for 4:30  p.m. and the second game is slated for an 8 p.m.

Yesterday, the Cats held a scrimmage at Panthers IceDen and the White team defeated the Red team 6-5 thanks to two goals in an extended three-on-three overtime session. The Red team led 5-4 after regulation time.

The Minnesota Wild signed Mikko Koivu to a two-year contract extension worth $11 million. The new deal will kick in next season. Koivu posted 58 points (18G/40A) in 80 games last year.

Minnesota also signed undrafted 18-year-old goaltender Dereck Baribeau to an entry-level contract. Baribeau played for the QMJHL’s Val-d’Or Foreurs and Quebec Remparts in 2016-17.

The Ottawa Senators signed undrafted 18-year-old forward Parker Kelly to an entry-level contract. Kelly scored 21 goals and 43 points for the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL last season.
