ReCat: Trocheck bedevils New Jersey

On Thursday night at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, the Florida Panthers defeated the New Jersey Devils, 4-3 in overtime.

Vincent Trocheck (6) scored two goals, including the game winner with just 46 seconds left in the overtime period to get the Panthers record back to .500, at 5-5-1. Aaron Ekblad and Denis Malgin also each scored their second markers of the season. Earning assists for the Panthers were Keith Yandle (5), Jonathan Marchessault (6), Jason Demers (4), Colton Sceviour (3), Jaromir Jagr (4), and Mark Pysyk (2).

Here’s Malgin’s goal:

The Devils were paced by Travis Zajac (4), PA Parenteau (4), and Pavel Zacha (1). Zacha lit the lamp with just under four minutes remaining in regulation to force the extra hockey. Corey Schneider stopped 27-of-31 shots and lost, while James Reimer won his second game for the Panthers by turning aside 31-of-34.

Check back here in the morning for the full recap. Next up for the Panthers, a road game in our nation’s capital against the Washington Capitals.
