Caterwaul: Panthers to unveil new primary logo and uniforms tonight

After 23 years of service, the Florida Panthers are retiring their original logo and replacing it with a new, military-inspired crest. The new logo, and uniforms, will be unveiled tonight at the BB&T Center.

Admission to the event is free; you can click on this link to Ticketmaster to get tickets. Festivities start on the JetBlue tarmac outside the arena at 5 pm and the doors will open at 6 pm. The unveiling ceremony will start at 7 pm. A round table discussion will take place after the unveiling.

Panthers players Aaron Ekblad, Vincent Trocheck, Steven Kampfer and Shawn Thornton will be on hand to model the new kit.

In addition to retiring the “Leaping Cat” primary, the beloved palm tree/stick secondary logo will also be replaced. The new secondary logo is a stylized version of the Florida state flag. That logo didn’t leak out on social media, so tonight will be the first time we get to see it.

Merchandise with the new logo will be available for sale at the arena and on NHL.com after the end of the event. Unfortunately, new jerseys will not be available for sale right away.
