The Pittsburgh Penguins made a big investment in their future, signing restricted free agent forward Ville Koivunen to an eight-year deal worth $4 million per season. Koivunen, acquired in the March 7, 2024 trade with Carolina that sent Jake Guentzel to the Hurricanes, had two goals and five assists in 39 games with Pittsburgh during the 2025-26 season.
The Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed resticted free agent forward Nikita Grebenkin to a two-year contract that carries an average annual vale of $1.1 million. Grebenkin, 23, produced four goals and 14 points in 55 games last year with the Flyers, his first full NHL season.
Action at the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup resumes today in Edmonton. At 2 p.m. ET, the United States (3-0) takes on Slovakia (1-1-1) in the first semifinal game. That’s followed by the second semifinal game at 7 p.m. which features host Canada (3-0) versus Finland (2-1). Both games will be played at Rogers Place, home of the Oilers. Switzerland (1-2) and the Czech Republic (1-2) will do battle at the Downtown Community Arena in the fifth-place game at 9 p.m.
