The number is in on Florida Panthers defenseman Donovan Sebrango’s new one-year contract. It’s a one-way deal and carries an $850,000 cap hit. Sebrango wasn’t tendered a qualifying offer, but decided to remain with the organization. He appeared in 40 games, and collected eight assists, with the Cats after getting claimed on October 16, 2025 after he was placed on waivers by the Ottawa Senators.
In a bit of a shocker, the Philadelphia Flyers have tendered a massive offer sheet to Anaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson for a five-year deal that’s worth a record $18 million annually. Carlsson being a restricted free agent means that he’s still under team control by the Ducks, who now have seven days to match the offer. Carlsson finished the 2025-26 campaign with 29 goals and 67 points in 70 games.
The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Gavin McKenna, the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract. McKenna, who wore his usual No. 72 in development camp, will need a new number after ceding it to new free agent acquisition Sergei Bobrovsky.
Second overall pick Ivar Stenberg signed his entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks. He led SHL U19 skaters in scoring this season with 33 points (11G/22 assists) and in assists and in points per game. He helped Frolunda HC capture the 2026 Champions Hockey League Championship, amassing four assists in six games.
