It remains pretty quiet on the NHL landscape as we grind through August and make our way towards the opening of rookie camps around the U.S. and Canada.
There is a little bit of internet scuttlebutt building that the Florida Panthers are doing their due diligence on Patrik Laine (contract?, PTO?) with Brad Marchand on the mend from his recent surgery. We’ll see what happens, but I don’t like the fit.

Games from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Cup saw HC Aktobe post a 4-3 decision over HK Arlan Kokschetau in Group A, and Rudny Gornyak rout Yertis Pavlodar by an 8-2 count in Group B. The preseason tournament consists of teams from the country’s Pro Hokei Ligasy.
