The Columbus Blue Jackets signed restricted free agent forward Cole Sillinger to a two-year, $4.5 million contract on Wednesday. Sillinger, 21, played in 77 games with the Blue Jackets last season, amassing a career-high 32 points on 13 goals and 19 assists.

The Toronto Maple Leafs agreed to terms with forward Alex Steeves on a one-year, two-way deal worth the league minimum of $775K. Steeves produced 27 goals and 30 assists in 65 games for the AHL’s Toronto Marlies last season. He also appeared in one NHL game with the Maple Leafs.

Ryan Johansen was placed on unconditional waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers for the purpose of terminating his contract due to a “material breach.” It’s likely Johansen will file a grievance over the contract termination with the NHL Players Association.
