After dropping games to USA White and USA Blue, Florida Panthers prospects Linus Eriksson, Olof Glifford, Simon Zether and Albert Wikman and the rest of Team Sweden will face a combined American squad in the second game from the World Junior Summer Showcase today.
Due to a delay in getting their equipment, Glifford’s fellow Swedish goalies Melker Thelin (Utah Clubbers) and Marcus Gidlof (New York Islanders) were unable to take part in the first two games, forcing Florida’s fifth-rounder in 2023 to go the distance in both of the losses. Glifford delivered a strong performance in Monday’s 2-1 loss to USA White after he was beaten seven times in the opener.
The only new NHL transaction to report is the Los Angeles Kings re-signing restricted free agent defenseman Jordan Spence to a two-year contract worth $3 million. Spence, 22, appeared in 71 games and produced two goals and 24 points for the Kings last season.
