Another week is in the books as we grind through August, leaving us roughly a month away from the opening of NHL training camps.

Host Canada won all five of its games, including a 2-1 decision over Czechia on Saturday, to take gold at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The United States finished fourth at the event.

Despite a quiet showing at the World Junior Summer Showcase, Florida Panthers prospect Linus Eriksson was projected to make Team Sweden by The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler, Corey Pronman and Max Bultman. He was the only Panther penciled in by the trio as they built rosters for the United States, Canada, Sweden and Finland. Something to keep an eye on as the year progresses,

Colton Poolman was signed to a one-year, two-way contract by the Buffalo Sabres. The 28-year-old defenseman spent the entirety of the 2023-24 season with the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers. Poolman has yet to play an NHL game.
