Unrestricted free agent defenseman Oliver Kylington inked a one-year deal worth $1.05 million with the Colorado Avalanche on Monday. Kylington missed the entirety of the 2022-23 season and the first half of the 2023-24 campaign due to personal reasons. After rejoining the Calgary Flames, Kylington produced three goals and five assists in 33 games and was a finalist for the Bill Masterton Trophy.

Kylington was a player I thought the Florida Panthers might have wanted to sign. I’ll be interested to see how he fares in comparison to Nate Schmidt and Adam Boqvist this season.

Forward Marek Vanacker signed an entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. Vanacker, the 18th overall pick in 2024, racked up 36 goals and 46 assists in 68 games with the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs. He put up three goals and seven points in Brantford’s first round playoff loss to the Ottawa 67’s.
