Alex Ovechkin beat Matt Murray 1:26 after the opening puck drop, Jakub Vrana scored on a power play later in the first and, unlike Game One, the Washington Capitals built a three-goal lead when Brett Connolly scored on a breakaway early in the second en route to a series-evening 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kris Letang netted the only goal for the Penguins, who had an apparent tally by Patric Hornqvist that would’ve cut the deficit down to one waved off in the third period.
