Thursday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Florida Panthers get an additional day to lick their wounds before finishing off another disappointing homestand against the Minnesota Wild on Friday.

Minnesota, which is tops in the Western Conference, is not a foe the Panthers do historically well against. When the two teams met in December, the Wild pounded the Cats by a 5-1 count.

That said, the Panthers need to start winning again or the small hole they find themselves in now will continue to grow deeper.

The faltering Cats (69 points) will need to leapfrog four teams: Tampa Bay (69 points), Philadelphia (70 points) Toronto (72 points) and the New York Islanders (73 points) to claim the second wild card and make a second straight playoff appearance.

A tough task with just seventeen games remaining, but not impossible if they can find the level they reached when they reeled off wins in five straight road games.

As always the floor is yours, let’s keep the chatter going.
