The Toronto Maple Leafs extended its winning streak to three games with a will-played 4-0 shutout win over the injury-riddled Vegas Golden Knights.. Toronto joined the Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres at 11 points, six behind the idle Cats. The Buds (5-4-1) have played ten games while the Lighting, also riding a three-game winning streak, Sabres and Cats have all played nine.

In other games involving Atlantic Division teams, the Montreal Canadiens got a 22-save effort from Jake Allen and blanked the Detroit Red Wings 3-0. Nick Suzuki scored his first of the season and added two assists. The loss sent the Red Wings, who were missing the unvaccinated Tyler Bertuzzi, back to NHL .500.
