Panthers acquire forward Ryan Haggerty from Penguins

The Florida Panthers have acquired forward Ryan Haggerty from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Kevin Roy. Haggerty is expected to report to the Panthers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Haggerty, an undrafted 26-year-old, has recorded three goals and six points over 23 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season. During the 2018-19 season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the 6-foot, 201-pound native of Stamford, CT, produced a career high 44 points (23G/21A) and led the team in goals.

He has appeared in 308 career AHL regular season games recording 156 points (77G/79A) after playing three years of NCAA hockey at R.P.I. Haggerty has yet to make his NHL debut.

Roy, who was signed as a UFA by the Cats this summer, departs the Thunderbirds with 4 goals and 14 points in 23 games played.
