The Florida Panthers have re-signed forward Scott Timmins to a one year, two-way deal. He spent most of last season with the San Antonio Rampage and posted 24 points (11G/13A) in 65 games. The 23-year-old center also suited up in five games for the injury-depleted Panthers and went pointless with a -2 rating. Four of those games with the Cats came after a March incident where he was arrested after entering a stranger’s house following a night of drinking at a nearby bar. Timmins was originally drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round in 2009 (165th overall) and now has 180 games of AHL experience to go along with 24 games in the NHL.
Tony Turgeon must have made a serious impression on Panthers’ brass at the club’s recent development camp. After the camp, Turgeon was signed to a minor-league deal by the organization. The tough defender from Nebraska-Omaha is now a part of the organization through 2014-15 and is expected to begin his pro career with the Rampage.
