Florida selected Montembeault in the third round (77th overall) of the 2015 Entry Draft.
The 19-year-old keeper posted a 17-19-6-2 record with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armanda of the QMJHL this past season, his third in the league. He finished the campaign with a 2.63 GAA, .901 save percentage and three shutouts.
In the playoffs, he went 5-6 with a 2.45 GAA, .925 save percentage and one shutout as the Armada was eliminated in the second round by Rouyn-Noranda after beating Val-d'Or in the opening round.
Montembeault was one of the backups on Canada's most recent World Junior Championship entry.
