The Florida Panthers AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, had two players named to the Western Conference All-Star team this afternoon. Prospect Drew Shore and veteran Bobby Butler will represent the Silver and Black on January 26 in Utica, NY. The league’s skills competition will take place the day prior. This is the first time the Rampage have had two players selected at the same time.
The 23-year-old Shore, has 9 goals and 21 assists in 33 games this season. The second round pick (44th overall) in 2009 is just three points away from setting a new career-high in the AHL. Shore has played 77 games with the Panthers. This will be the second time the young pivot has represented San Antonio.
Butler is currently leading the Rampage in scoring with 31 points (14G/17A) in 31 games played. The 27-year-old boasts a heady 17.9 shooting percentage. Butler led the Silver and Black in scoring with 47 points last season. He appeared in two games with the parent Panthers in 2013-14, collecting one assist. This is his third time being named to league’s all-star game. He took home MVP honors in the 2011 tilt in Hershey, PA.
This is great news for the organization as the Rampage, currently fifth in the Western Conference, continue their push towards the Calder Cup playoffs.
