Mitch Marner registered a natural hat trick and set up Brayden McNabb’s short-handed goal as the Vegas Golden Knights fricasseed the Anaheim Ducks 6-2 in Game 3 at Honda Center on Friday. It was the first hat trick of Marner’s postseason career. Shea Theodore and Brett Howden each had a goal and an assist, and Carter Hart made 31 stops for the Golden Knights, who took a two to one lead in the series. Beckett Sennecke and Chris Kreider scored the goals for Anaheim.
Alex Newhook notched a pair of goals in the Montral Canadiens convincing 5-1 over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center that evened the series at a game apiece. Former Florida Panthers defenseman Mike Matheson, Alexandre Carrier and Nick Suzuki also lit the lamp for the Canadiens, who got a 29-save performance from Jakub Dobes. Zach Benson was the only Sabre to solve Dobes.
Panthers prospect Shea Busch had a tough go of it in the Everett Silvertips 4-2 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders in Game 1 of the WHL Championship. Busch failed to register a point or shot on goal, and finished the tilt with a minus-two rating.
