Florida Panthers sign F Dryden Hunt to entry-level contract

In a move already widely reported, the Florida Panthers have officially announced the signing of forward Dryden Hunt to to an entry-level contract.

The 20-year-old, undrafted Hunt is currently toiling for the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors where he has racked up an astounding 50 goals and 52 assists in 63 games. Hunt’s monster season is coming after he scored a combined 83 points (33G/50A) for the Regina Pats and Medicine Hat Tigers in 2014-15.

Once Hunt’s major junior season ends he will be eligible to join the Panthers or the Portland Pirates. This is a nice signing by Dale Tallon & Co. thatfurther bolsters the prospects corps, especially in light of the draft picks surrendered in the deals for Jiri Hudler, Teddy Purcell and Jakub Kindl.

In other news, Aleksander Barkov and Jussi Jokinen have been named to Finland’s World Cup team and Dmitry Kulikov has been named to the Russian squad.

Update: Aaron Ekblad has been named to Team North America’s initial World Cup roster.
