Panthers sign F Matt Bradley

The Florida Panthers continued a torrid rebuild pace begun only a day ago by signing former Washington Capitals forward Matt Bradley to a two-year deal (financial terms not yet released). A fourth-round selection of the San Jose Sharks in 1996, the 33 year-old has accumulated 141 points (56 goals) in 630 NHL games, with 531 penalty minutes.

Bradley, a 6-3, 200 lb native of Stittsville, Ontario, is coming off of a three-year contract which paid him $1M annually.

Kind parting words from Becca at Japers’ Rink:

Why the Caps Will Miss Him: Like Boyd Gordon, his offensive capabilities were limited; and like Gordon, it was the intangibles that made up for it. Whether it was his willingness to drop the gloves in defense of a teammate (despite the fact that he was never a very good fighter and had, in his own words, “paper-thin skin”) or his perfectly-timed quotes, there’s no doubt that Bradley will be a tough act to follow on and off the ice.

Always a pleasure to help out our divisional cousins. Full club release here, and of course the obligatory tribute video…
