Florida Panthers sign Swiss goalie Ludovic Waeber to entry-level contract

Despite being in the midst of the Stanely Cup Final, the Florida Panthers aren’t forgetting about the offseason stuff, inking Swiss goaltender Ludovic Waeber on a one-year, entry-level contract for the the 2023-24 NHL season.

The 26-year-old Waeber appeared in 19 games with the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League in 2022-23, posting two shutouts, a .914 save percentage and 2.50 goals against average.

Waeber is a 6-foot-1, 176-pound native of Fribourg, Switzerland and has appeared in 115 National League games between HC Fribourg-Gottéron (2012-13 and 2017-18 to 2019-20) and ZSC Lions (2020-21 to 2022-23).

During the 2020-21 campaign, his .918 save percentage ranked fourth among National League goaltenders with at least 35 games played. Across 19 career National League postseason contests, he owns a .935 save percentage.

The undrafted Waeber represented his country at the IIHF World Junior Championships in 2016, 2015 and 2013 (U18).
