Panthers’ Special Teams stats through six games

A quick look at Florida’s powerplay and penalty killing performances over the first half-dozen matches, which have produced some rather remarkable numbers considering three of those games were shutouts.

Power Play

Florida has received 28 man-advantage opportunities through six games, scoring 8 times (28.6%). Interestingly, the PP has clicked at exactly the same pace – percentage-wise – at home (2-for-7 in 2GP) and on the road (6-for-21 in 4GP).

Six of those goals resulted from 5-on-4s in 47:04. Two additional goals were scored during a pair of 5-on-3s over a combined stretch of 1:06. The have not yet had a 4-on-3 opportunity. One shorthanded goal-against has been allowed.

Penalty Kill

Over the same six games, the Panthers have found themselves shorthanded on a total of 16 occasions, allowing 3 goals while successfully killing 13 opposition power plays (81.2%). In two games at home the club has gone 4-for-5 (80%), while four matches on the road have resulted in a 9-for-11 kill rate (81.8%). Florida has spent 29:52 on the PK, scoring shorthanded once.
