As you probably already know, the Portland Pirates are no more. The franchise was recently sold and relocated to Springfield, MA to replace the city’s previous AHL team, the Falcons, who were purchased by the Arizona Coyotes and moved west to Tucson.
A new team in Springfield means a new nickname is needed. Springfield Hockey, LLC, along with The Republican and MassLive.com, is sponsoring an online “name the team” survey and Florida Panthers fans can take part.
Just click on this link to submit your choice of name. Suggestions will accepted through Friday, June 3, at 12 pm ET.
The club will review all entries and the winning name will be announced in the coming weeks. The new nickname will inspire the look of our new AHL affiliate, so choose wisely.
