Saturday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Owen Tippett scored two goals and added an assist to power the Springfield Thunderbirds to a 7-4 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to end a five-game road trip on a winning note.

Tippett has produced three goals and three assists in six games for the T-Birds.

Dominic Toninato also provided a pair and Henrik Borgstrom lit the lamp in his first AHL game of the season. Paul Thompson and Anthony Greco also found the back of the net.

Ethan Prow set up three goals, Kevin Roy and Blaine Byron had two assists, and Greco, Sebastian Repo and Daniel Audette also picked up helpers.

Chris Driedger got the win in net, finishing with 29 saves on 33 shots.

The Thunderbirds (4-4) will take on the Belleville Senators tonight in Springfield.

In ECHL action, the Greenvllle Swamp Rabbits edged the Atlanta Gladiators 6-5 on home ice.

Florida Panthers prospects Ryan Bednard stopped 29 shots to pick up the win, raising his record to 2-2, and Patrick Bajkov scored a goal for the fourth-straight game.

Thunderbirds property Liam Pecararo scored two goals and Jake Horton added an assist.

The Panthers are off again tonight before they face the Edmonton Oilers Sunday afternoon. Florida is 4-2-4 and currently sits in the second wild card spot.
