Sunday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Florida Panthers (4-1-1) are done with their preseason schedule. Florida posted the best points percentage in the Atlantic Division (.750), which is nice, but really means nothing, Jon Snow.

Preseason action league-wide comes to an end today. The Washington Capitals will visit the St. Louis Blues, the Philadelphia Flyers will host the New York Islanders, and the Vegas Golden Knights will welcome the San Jose Sharks to T-Mobile Arena.

There are some new signings to report since our last Caterwaul, so let’s play catch up.

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed Alexey Lipanov to an entry-level contract. Lipanov was selected in third round (76th overall) in this summer’s Entry Draft.

Vegas inked defenseman Nicholas Hague and goaltender Dylan Ferguson to an entry-level contracts. Hague was taken in the second round of this year’s Entry Draft with the 34th pick. Ferguson, originally drafted by the Dallas Stars, has spent the last three seasons in the WHL with the Kamloops Blazers.

The St. Louis Blues signed center Robert Thomas to an entry-level contract. Thomas was a first-round choice (20th overall) this summer.

And finally, the Ottawa Senators signed veteran goaltender Craig Anderson to a two-year contract extension worth $9.5 million. Anderson’s new deal will kick in starting next season.

Now, about those roster cuts…
