NHL Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Thursday Open Forum

The big news yesterday for the Florida Panthers was the announcement that the club signed 34-year-old veteran Troy Brouwer to a professional tryout.

Brouwer spent the 2018-19 season with the Cats, amassing 12 goals and 21 points in 75 games. Prior to his stint in Florida, the right winger logged five years with the Chicago Blackhawks, four years with the Washington Capitals, one year with the St. Louis Blues and two seasons with the Calgary Flames.

Hurricane Dorian

The Panthers announced that the team has partnered with UNICEF USA to raise funds for Hurricane Dorian relief efforts in the Bahamas.

Donations will support ongoing UNICEF relief efforts in the Bahamas. Fans and members of the community who wish to support these efforts can donate by clicking here.

UNICEF is an international organization known for protecting the territories and rights of every child. From Puerto Rico to the Caribbean, they have been providing emergency support for those in need with water, shelter, hygiene kits and more.

“We are heartbroken over what has happened to our neighbors in the Bahamas and encourage our fans and members of the South Florida community to donate in support of these relief efforts,” said Panthers President & CEO Matthew Caldwell. “This is a critical time and every donation makes a difference.”

Heritage Werks

The Panthers also announced the team has entered a partnership with Heritage Werks to archive and share the hockey club’s history.

Through the partnership, Heritage Werks will collect, curate and digitize Panthers items to tell the stories of Panthers history. Fans are now able to view and explore a free, digital ‘Panthers Archives Virtual Vault” including items such as game-worn equipment, giveaways, memorabilia, ticket stubs, paintings, photos, bobbleheads and more.

Fans can explore the online archives by visiting FlaPanthersVault.com. The vault will look back at the club’s past, but will also continue to add new exhibits focusing on key historical moments and memories.
