Josh Doan and Ryan McLeod each produced a goal and an assist to power the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens in Game 1 at KeyBank Center on Wednesday.​ Jordan Greenway and Bowen Byram also lit the lamp, Zach Benson had two assists, and former Florida Panthers keeper Alex Lyon made 26 saves for Buffalo, who are playing in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2007. Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach scored for Montreal, who got 12 saves from Jakub Dobes.

Lukas Dostal stopped 22 of 23 shots faced, and Beckett Sennecke, Leo Carlsson and Jansen Harkins tallied for the Anaheim Ducks in a 3-1 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena to even the series at a game apiece. Mark Stone was the only Golden Knight to solve Dostal, breaking his shutout bid with six seconds remaining, and Carter Hart finished with 25 saves for Vegas.
