Florida Panthers Top 25 Under 25: #25 – Ryan Bednard

SBN is rolling out a league-wide Top 25 Under 25 in the near, so I figured we’d do a Panthers-specific version for Litter Box Cats to help get us through the remaining dog days of summer. You may or may not agree with how this unfolds (that’s what the poll is for), but I want to say upfront pro experience figured prominently in how the rankings came out. Let us proceed…

#25: Ryan Bednard

Position: Goaltender

Age: 21

Team: Bowling Green State University (NCAA)

Drafted in 2015, 7th Round (206th Overall)

Goaltender Ryan Bednard finds himself at #25 in LBC’s 2018 Top 25 Under 25. Bernard had an excellent sophomore season for Bowling Green.  In 29 games played, he went 15-8-4 and posted a 2.24 GAA and .916 SV%, both of which were solid improvements over the numbers he put up in limited action as a freshman. The 21-year-old keeper also recorded 3 shutouts.

Not many seventh-round picks find their way to the “bigs,” but goalies are a different animal and Bednard, who stands 6’-5”, has prototypical size and will be given plenty of time to develop properly. His play at Florida’s recent development camp was very encouraging.
