ICYMI, the Florida Panthers signed 19-year-old forward Gracyn Sawchyn to an entry-level contract on Monday. Florida selected Sawchyn in the second round (63rd overall) in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Sawchyn is off to a fast start this season, with 8 goals and 20 points in 12 games for the Edmonton Oil Kings. Last season he put 64 points in 54 WHL games.
There were only two games on the NHL schedule last night. The New Jersey Devils blanked the Edmonton Oilers by a 3-0 count and the Los Angeles Kings did the same to the Cats next opponent, the Nashville Predators.
The Savannah Ghost Pirates set a franchise record by winning its fifth-straight game last night. The Ghost Pirates beat the Orlando Solar Bears 6-5 at Kia Center to up its record to 6-1 on the season. Savannah is currently in first place in the ECHL’s South Division. All is rosy throughout the organization.
