The 18-year-old center played the past three seasons for the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings. Patrick had 46 points (20G/26A) in just 33 games played in 2016-17.
The Ottawa Senators avoided arbitration with center Jean-Gabriel Pageau, signing him to a three-year, $9.3 million contract. Pageau led the Senators with eight playoff goals as the club advanced all the way to the Eastern Conference Final.
Austin Czarnik remained with the Boston Bruins, signing a new one-year, two-way deal.
The New York Rangers signed undrafted Russian goaltender Alexander Georgiev to a three-year, entry-level contract and re-signed center Daniel Catenacci to one-year two-way deal.
The Nashville Predators signed center Frederick Gaudreau to a three-year contract worth $2 million.
For the first two years of the deal, the 24-year-old’s deal will be worth $650,000 when he’s in the NHL or $70,000 when he’s in the AHL. His contract will earn him $700,000 in the 2019-20 season.
Right wing JC Lipton re-upped with the Winnipeg Jets for one more year on a two-way contract. Lipton was selected by the Jets in the third round (91st overall) of the 2014 draft.
Finally, former Florida Panthers defenseman Brian Campbell called it quits yesterday after playing his final NHL season with the Chicago Blackhawks. Campbell will move into a front office position with the Blackhawks. Second City Hockey has a lot on Soup, so head over there and check it out.
