Tuesday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

We moved another day closer to the Florida Panthers opening its preseason slate in Sunrise with a doubleheader matchup against the Nashville Predators on September 26 at 3 PM and 7 PM.

While the Cats roster remained static, Monday saw a spate of new signing across the National Hockey League. Let’s check them out.

The Philadelphia Flyers signed restricted free agent goaltender Carter Hart to a three-year contract with a average annual value of $3.979-million, a nod to his No. 79 jersey. Hart struggled last season for the Flyers, posting a 3.87 GAA and .877 save percentage. (Broad Street Hockey)

The New York Rangers also locked up their young starter, inking Igor Shesterkin to a four-year deal with an AAV of $5,666,667.  Shesterkin, 25, posted a 16-14-3 record, with a 2.62 GAA, .916 save percentage, and two shutouts in 2020-21. (Blueshirt Banter)

Staying in the crease, Ilya Samsonov signed a one-year contract worth $2 million to remain with the Washington Capitals. Samsonov appeared in just three games (0-2-1) with the Capitals last season. (Japers’ Rink)

The Tampa Bay Lightning inked forward Ross Colton to a two-year deal worth $2.25 million, avoiding a schedule arbitration hearing. Colton, 24, scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal against the Montreal Canadiens. (Raw Charge)

The Boston Bruins signed forward Fabian Lysell to an entry-level contract. Lysell was selected in the first round (21st overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. (Stanley Cup of Chowder)

Defenseman Olli Juolevi signed a one-year deal worth $750K to remain with the Vancouver Canucks. Juolevi scored two goals and added an assist in 23 games for the Canucks last season. (The Province)

The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed forward Maxime Comtois for two years at an AAV of $2,037,500; Max Jones for three years at an AAV of $1.295 million; and defenseman Josh Mahura to a two-year, two-way deal at the league minimum. (Ducks Official)

Forward Janne Kuokkanen agreed to terms with the New Jersey Devils on a two-year deal worth $3.65 million. Kuokkanen put up 25 points in 50 games for the Devils in 2020-21. (All About The Jersey)

The Columbus Blue Jackets signed defenseman Andrew Peeke to a two-year contract worth $1.575 million. Peeke, 23, appeared in 11 games for the Blue Jackets last season and produced three assists. (The Columbus Dispatch)

The Calgary Flames signed defenseman Oliver Kylington to a one-year, two-way deal worth $750K at the NHL level and $300K at the AHL level. Kylington played in eight games with the Flames in 2020-21. (Sportsnet)
