Tuesday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Czech Republic and Germany posted victories on Monday at the 2021 Women’s World Championship in Calgary.

While the more powerful Group A got the day off, the Czechs received a 24-save shutout from goaltender Klara Peslarova in a 4-0 win over Japan that put the team atop of Group B with a 3-0 record. Dominika Laskova, Noemi Neubauerova, Alena Mills and Katerina Mrazova scored the goals for the Czechs, who locked up a spot in the quarterfinals.

Julia Zorn, Jule Scheifer and Theresa Wagner lit the lamp for Germany, who went on to beat Denmark 3-1 to remain undefeated at 2-0, good for second place in the group. Hungary (0-2) was idle on Monday.

On Tuesday, the United States will face Russia, and Canada will play Switzerland in Group A action, while the Hungarians will take on Japan in the only Group B contest.
