Monday saw five new contracts handed out in the NHL. Let’s take a look.
The Nashville Predators signed starting goaltender Juuse Saros to a four-year contract worth $20 million, avoiding a scheduled arbitration hearing. Saros carried the Predators to a surprise playoff berth on the back of a fine campaign that saw him post a 21-11-1 record, 2.28 GAA, .927 save percentage and three shutouts. (On The Forecheck)
The Minnesota Wild and forward Kevin Fiala avoided arbitration and agreed to terms on a one-year, $5.1 million contract. Last season, he put up 20 goals and 20 assists in 50 games to finish second in team scoring behind rookie sensation Kirill Kaprizov, (Hockey Wilderness)
The Chicago Blackhawks signed forward Alexander Nylander to a one-year deal worth $874,125K. Nylander injured his left knee in the first round of the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs and missed the entire 2020–21 season. (Second City Hockey)
The Colorado Avalanche avoided an arbitration hearing with defenseman Dennis Gilbert by signing him to a one-year, two-way contract. Gilbert, 24, appeared in 3 games for the Avalanche and 17 for the AHL’s Colorado Eagles. (The Gazette)
The Columbus Blue Jackets signed Ole Julian Bjorgvik Holm to an ebtry-level contract. Columbus took the 18-year-old defenseman in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. (1st Ohio Battery).
