Alex Carpenter, Abbey Murphy and Kendall Coyne Schofield scored the goals for the United States in a 3-0 semifinal win over Finland at the 2021 Women’s World Championship in Calgary, Alberta. American goaltender Nicole Hensley posted a 14-save shutout. Finnish keeper Anni Keisala delivered a high-quality start in defeat, stopping 31 of 33 shots.
Melodie Daoust lit the lamp twice to power host Canada to a 4-0 victory over Switzerland in the other semifinal game. Renata Fast had a goal and an assist, Rebecca Johnston scored and Marie-Philip Poulin had two helpers for the Canadians, who remained unbeaten in the tournament.
Tonight, the Americans will be gunning for a sixth straight title and their ninth in the last ten world championships. Canada last won the tournament back in 2012 in Burlington, Vermont. The host team dominated the U.S. in group play, winning 5-1 on August 26.

NHL Signings
The Nashville Predators signed restricted free agent forward Eeli Tolvanen to a new three-year deal worth $4.35 million. Tolvanen, a first-round pick in 2017, produced 11 goals and 11 assists in 40 games with the Predators last season. (On The Forecheck)
The Arizona Coyotes inked forward Dylan Guenther to an entry-level contract. Arizona selected Guenther with the ninth overall pick (acquired from Vancouver) in the 2021 Nhl Entry Draft. Guenther put up 12 goals and 12 assists in 12 games for the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2020-21. (Five For Howling)
