Carolina 3, Montreal 2 (OT) (Monday)

Andrei Svechnikov took a pass from Seth Jarvis and beat Jakub Dobes 14:06 into overtime to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final at Bell Centre. Shayne Gostisbehere notched his first of the postseason and Taylor Hall also turned on the red light for the Hurricanes. Goaltender Frederik Andersen only had to make 10 saves. Lane Hutson and former Florida Panther Mike Matheson scored the goals for the Canadiens, who are just 2-5 on home ice during the playoffs.

IIHF World Championship (Monday)

Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk came up huge in a must-win game for Team USA, scoring two goals and adding two assists in a 7-3 victory over Hungary in Zurich. Tkachuk received 17:42 of ice time, was credited with four shots on goal, and finished with a plus-one rating. He has amassed three goals and six points in three games played.

Florida prospect Marek Alscher logged 16:39 of ice time, registered one shot on goal, and finished with a minus-one rating in Czechia’s 4-1 defeat to Norway in Fribourg. Despite the loss, the Czechs have advanced to the quaterfinals.

Panthers prospect Shea Busch was credited with four shots on goal and went minus-two in the Everett Silvertips 6-2 loss to the Kitchner Rangers. Everett will finish round-robin play on Wednesday when the take on the host Kelowna Rockets.
